Southeast, Sunshine Wave 1, & Carolina Classic 2023 Recap

March 4, 2023

18 Teal

18 Teal had the opportunity to go to Atlanta this weekend and play in a qualifier! We came in with an emphasis on serving tough, knowing the effect that that would have on teams at even this older age group. The girls definitely delivered on the challenge. As always, establishing our middles early was very important to the game plan and we did well being able to get the ball to them, especially in transition. Quick turnaround for us as we’ll be heading to Sunshine this weekend!

18 White

This weekend, 18 White saw some tough competition down in Atlanta! The girls held their own against every opponent we faced and fought in some very close matches. On championship day, we won out, finishing the final day 3-0! Morgan said, “This team is looking better each and every day and we can’t wait to bring it to Orlando!!!”

15 Teal

We had a lot of highs in our play this weekend and learned to show lots of fight. Meghan said, “It was so much fun watching the bond in our team grow this past weekend.” We are continuously finding that energy to keep pushing through the tough matches in ourselves and in each other! Meghan and Daniella are so excited to see what else is to come with this club season now in full swing! Shout out to Tamari for getting a rockstar of a nosebleed at the end of day two and coming back ready to play at the beginning of day three with the support of her teammates!

15 White

First qualifier for 15 White in the books!

Emma & Kamille both agreed that these girls have come so far already and think this is a team that’s willing to grow in grit and resilience. These girls learned to be scorers this weekend during important times instead of just “hitters”, which is so important!

Some super high, highs for the team but learning to level out the lows and play with confidence and urgency will be big themes as we head into the locomotive challenge and big south as our next tests!

15 Black

15 Black headed into day two of the Carolina Classic in Silver! Ilani said, “15 Black had an awesome weekend. They fought very hard and were able to finish the weekend on an extremely high note. As a team, we had our season high (so far!) for kills, and passing was amazing. As coaches, we were ecstatic about the translation of the skills that we’ve worked so hard on in practice!” We really came together as a team to overcome some tough adversity, especially in the silver bracket. The girls kept their focus on competing to win and took 1st place in silver!

WOWWWW! I don’t even know where to begin for this tournament!! We had so many highlights this Carolina Classic, here’s just a few-

  1. Service pressure was night and day from our first tournament to this one. Each of our girls went on service runs of their own, getting that ball low over the net with some pace.
  2. Serve receive passing and defense were lights out! We had the “see ball, go get ball” mentality, especially on Championship day
  3. We all were having a blast while going 5-2 for the weekend

We made it into the championship of Gold and fell short in a three set thriller, 14-16, to a very talented beach elite team. Overall, this was a really great weekend for 14 Teal. Both coaches are so so proud and can’t wait to continue seeing and helping with the growth of this team.

14 White

On the first day of the Carolina Classic, we finished 1-2 in a pool with some really great teams. We forced a third set for those matches and put in some hard work but unfortunately came up a little short. We came back day two determined to win every game and we did! We finished first place in the Silver bracket! We are super proud of the progress these young ladies have made. Onto the next!
