17 White definitely shared some offensive love with our middles this past weekend who were very efficient at scoring! Over the two day tournament, Emerson & Anna combined for 93 attempted over only two days. We’ve been working on our connection since the start of the season and it’s getting stronger every tournament and carried us into the gold bracket this past weekend!
17 Black got off to a strong start for the weekend, going 3-0 on Saturday and securing a spot in the gold bracket. Our solid play was headlined by our serve receive and aggressiveness at the service line. We continued the strong start with a 2-0 victory in the gold quarterfinals before falling short in a tough match in the semis. We are excited to build this momentum as we head into Big South.
This weekend, we utilized some of our alternative tools in the Locomotive Challenge. We also had some girls play in positions they don’t normally play in, still being short a couple of players. Overall, we played really well and ended the tournament with an overall record of 5-1 and won Silver in a 3 set match against CAV’s 16 Black! We’re looking to focus on the strengths of our team these next few weeks going into these much larger qualifiers.
16 Black started off day one very strong with a huge win against the team that was ranked 1st in the tournament. The team worked as a cohesive unit with some key hustle plays to dominate the match. The girls faced a tough loss in their first game one day one with the third set score of 16-18, but put up a very strong fight. On day two, we competed in silver against our very own 16 White, the rematch from City of Oaks and played with a ton of heart. Our goal over the next month is to improve defensively and stay consistent so we’re ready for Big South!
15 White battled hard this weekend. We had a great first day with excellent serving and a season high in kills per set as a team! While we did have our highs, we still have room to improve for future tournaments. The girls have come a long way so far this season and I’m excited to see what they bring to Big South!
We did a great job executing and performing in competitive situations. We maintained high energy the entire tournament, which is very important and can make a huge impact at this age in volleyball. The girls were able to implement some technical changes that were necessary to win and kept their composure. We ended the tournament winning the silver bracket, our second tournament in a row taking home the first place medal in silver! Ilani said, “the girls are constantly improving. There’s still lots to work on but I’m very proud of the hard work and focus that was brought into the weekend.”
Killed it this weekend at Locomotive! We are both extremely proud of the way the girls played this weekend given the circumstances of only having 6-7 players! We started off Saturday stronggggg beating 2 of the 3 teams in our pool handily (loved that we played our game and didn’t play down)! We played some more competitive matches on day 2, making it to the championship match where we gave it our all, but came up just short!
1. Kept service pressure high throughout the weekend!
2. Defense and serve receive were great from everybody (including middles having to play their own back row!! Whoop whoop!
3. Everyone adjusted very well and very easily to new defensive positions, so proud!
4. Overall, everybody embraced their role and looked like they were having fun!
Going to continue to practice hard and prepare for Big South!
14 White had one of the best tournaments that we’ve had all season thus far. We were able to finish day one with a better record than we had previously been able to accomplish so that was a big accomplishment for us! We finished day one 2-1 which got us into gold! On day two, we were able to fight past the tough overall number one seed in three sets. For our first time playing in gold, we played very well and finished third in the tournament!! Coach Ty and Coach Cassidy are so proud of this team!
