January 19, 2023

18 Teal

18 Teal went into City of Oaks knowing it would be a weekend with some talented competition. We planned to serve tough and the team really made that happen. We were able to take other teams out of their system from the get-go. We competed with some tough competition this weekend and were able to finish in the gold bracket on championship day.

18 White

Another great weekend for 18 White! We had some outstanding performances from each one of our players. Our offense has already grown since Southern Power last weekend, Vivi and Cece distributed the ball very well and were able to get a significant number of one-on-one offensive opportunities. We had a ton of scrappy defensive plays and serving was outstanding. Our serving really carried us to some big wins this weekend! #LetsTakeAdvantage

17 Teal

17 Teal had a great weekend! 3-0 day two and took down the number one seed in the pool to earn a first-round bye in gold on day three! Some big time plays from our middles to make it happen – Delaney hit .333 and Aggie made some terrific touches at the net to slow down both Morgan State and ECU commits! Emma indicated, “From this weekend, we’re going to be emphasizing block penetration and some backrow attacking to prepare us for some open competition in the next couple of months!”

17 White

17 White had some amazing chemistry for it to be only our first tournament! Serve receive was solid and we’ll continue getting better in that area. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be changing some minor technicalities that became patterns from the weekend and we’ll keep getting better!

17 Black

17 Black played with great defensive intensity all weekend. Serve receive progressed each day, despite having to deal with injuries to the backrow. We finished strong in bracket play Monday, falling short in a tight 13-15 thriller with the team who ended up winning our bracket. Coach Colten said, “I was very proud of the resiliency we showed this tournament. We’re excited to get back in the gym to clean some things up and prepare for the next tournament.”

16 Teal

16 Teal came into City of Oaks ready to play. We were the only team to take a set off the team who ended up winning it all. Our only other loss was in an extremely close three set match to the team who finished second. Our high point started in serve receive with Kenzie passing a 2.05 on 92 receptions over the tournament. This allowed us to have an extremely balanced offense which opened our middle attack. Incredible performance from Cammy with 42 kills and hitting .557 over the entire weekend. JP & Bree are ready to get back on the court and fine tune a few things like pin blocking and defensive movement.

16 White

Overall, we had some great full match performances from start to finish. Our defense helped us in setting our pins up for some huge kills this weekend. We have so much potential and great offensive options on this team. In practices over the next few weeks, we’ll be looking to clean things up and find ways to optimize our strong points.

16 Black

16 Black had a great first tournament. We ran many different line ups and the girls did great in adapting. We were able to work together and get our first win on Sunday against our very own, well-rounded 16 White team. On the final day, we learned the importance of respecting every team, regardless of the way they warm up. Going forward, we’re going to bring our all from the very beginning. Each day of City of Oaks, 16 Black made noticeable, appropriate adjustments wherever needed. We can’t wait to see what they’ll do at the next tournament!

15 Teal

The first tournament for 15 Teal was such a success! We started off with a bang, going 3-0 Saturday and 2-1 Sunday for the opportunity to go for gold on the final day! Coach Meghan said, “I’m very proud of each and every one of the girls! We have a team full of fighters and it’s a fab thing to see!”

15 White

15 White came to play this weekend! Our serving from the beginning made it tough for other teams to play in system and allowed for some incredible offensive opportunities for our attackers. The girls adjusted well to new systems and went 3-0 on Sunday! Coach Mal said, “It was also very heartwarming to see the girls bond and have fun together in between matches. I enjoyed coaching them this weekend and am excited to see growth!”

15 Black

In 15 Black’s first tournament of the season, we gained some great volleyball experience and exposure and really developed our volleyball IQ! We finished the tournament on a high note going undefeated on championship day. Coach Ilani said, “To have so many versatile players is one reason I really love this team. They’re eager to get better and are very receptive to the coaching coming from Paige and I. This season is going to be a great one!”

14 Teal

14 Teal came into City of Oaks ready to play! Our serves took many teams out of system all weekend and the serve receive passing by our two DS’s Nureen and Carleigh was solid! Sofia and Audrey, our setters, adjusted very well to attacking on the right side and got us some crucial points. The decision-making improved day to day and we will continue improving during practice. Coach Mo said, “Bree and I really enjoy coaching this team. It’s full of girls who want to get better and are constantly seeking feedback. That is so important.”

14 White

14 White played very well for their tournament debut of the season! We truly ended on a high note, placing second in our pool. Coach Ty and Cassidy are both very excited for the rest of the season and the growth of each of these girls.
